Men's and Women's Basketball Semifinals Team USA

The USA men's basketball team is one victory away from winning another gold medal. On Thursday, August 8, in Paris, the basketball team, led by LeBron James and Kevin Durant, overcame Serbia 95-91 in the semifinal round of the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The U.S. men's team, which included Gabrielle Union, Travis Scott, Quavo, Sue Bird, and Megan Rapinoe, brought a lot of celebrity power to Bercy Arena. Bronny and Bryce James visited the semifinals in support of their father and Team USA.

During Thursday's dramatic victory, which saw the roster of American basketball players leading Team Serbia, managed by three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, by double digits for the majority of the game, Stephen Curry put on a display.

Anita Alvarez

American synchronized swimmer Anita Alvarez is an artistic swimmer. She attended Kenmore West Senior High School, where she graduated in 2014, and is originally from Buffalo, New York. Following her graduation, she started a professional career in an organized swimming setup.

Alvarez and Mariya Koroleva competed in the women's duet event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where they placed ninth. She plays for the USA National Synchronized Swimming Team. She qualified in the 2014 Junior World Championships as well as the 2015 World Championships in Kazan.

France vs. Germany

France vs. Germany is the opening game of the day in the men's basketball tournament semifinals of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. There will be two rematches from group play.

Silver medal winners and hosts one game after pulling off what was certainly the biggest upset of the competition in the quarterfinals, France beat Germany, 73-69. With an 82-73 victory on Tuesday, they had sent Canada, the team with the second-best odds for gold, home.

In his first Olympic Games, NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama is leading the team in points and rebounds. However, this is also a veteran-heavy team, since the majority of the players from the Tokyo Olympics silver medal-winning team are back on the field.

Team USA vs. Serbia

Team USA was down 13 points against Serbia at the start of the fourth quarter, but they recovered strongly to win 95–91 and move on to the gold medal match against France. LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and Steph Curry spearheaded a comeback in a 95-91 victory over Serbia. The Americans trailed by as much as 17 points at one point and were behind by 12 at the break.

Team USA will play host nation France in the gold medal game on Saturday. Earlier on Thursday, Germany was defeated 73-69 by Victor Wembanyama and his team. The bronze medal match will feature Serbia and Germany.
