Paris 2024 Swimming Schedule Day by Day Update

One of the main events of the Olympics is swimming particularly pool swimming. Swimming has been one of the most fortunate sports for the US, accounting for around 25% of all Olympic gold medals won by the US in this sport. Many of history's most decorated Olympic swimmers have come from the United States.

Swimming competitions in the Olympics take place in a 50-meter-long pool. The four swimming strokes utilized in Olympic competitions are breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke, and front crawl. Since front crawl is mostly used in freestyle competitions, the word "freestyle" is frequently used similarly to front crawl. The mixed medley is the fifth race in which swimmers alternate between all four strokes.

Paris Olympics Artistic Swimming Schedule

The swimming events at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024 are expected to take place from July 27 to August 9, 2024. The Paris La Défense Arena will host the pool events from July 27 to August 4, while Pont Alexandre III will host the two-day marathon swimming event from August 8 to 9 across the Seine River.

The Paris 2024 swimming program schedule will have two parts. Prelims for the pool events will take place in the morning as they did for the 2012 Games. The semifinal and final sessions will take place in the evening, and the night session will follow.

Changes in Schedule

The Paris Olympics swimming schedule has several major changes. Initially scheduled to continue for eight days, the program now continues for nine days. An extra day has been provided to ease the schedules of swimmers competing in both solo and relay events at the same time.

Additionally, it clears out a busy calendar that included three new events added to the schedule at the last Games.

The schedule for Days 5 and 6 was changed in February 2024 due to pressure from the French swimming governing authority to give Leon Marchand a shot at winning the 200-meter breaststroke and 200-meter butterfly titles.

Everything still happens on the initially scheduled days; however, the 200-meter butterfly and 200-meter breaststroke races now have a longer break in the event order.

Events

Swimming includes 37 events (18 for men and women and one mixed event), including two 10 km open-water marathons. This program format is similar to that of the 2020 edition. Unless stated otherwise, the following competitions were held: all pool events are long-course, and distances are measured in meters.
