Swimming is known since ancient times, but it was not commonly competitively played as a sport until the nineteenth century. First swimming competition was held in 1837 by the newly established National Swimming Society of Great Britain.
The majority of swimmers at the time used breaststroke to swim. With the passage of time a lot of strokes were introduced to swimming competitions, and they are currently used at the Olympics.
Olympic Swimming Basic Rules:
At the Olympics swimming a 50-meter pool is used for swimming competitions. This pool has eight lanes. The total distance of the swimming competition ranges between 50 meters to 1500 meters. In 50 meters, athletes swim 1 lap, while in 1500 meters they swim 30 laps.
Swimmers race with each other by using one of the four strokes backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle and butterfly. When a tone sounds, every swimmer taking part in a specific race begins swimming at the same time. The swimmer who covers the required distance first and touches the pool wall wins.
Paris Olympics Swimming Schedule
There are thirty-five Olympic swimming pool events in total which include the mixed medley relay, three gender-specific relay events, and fourteen individual events for each gender.
At the 2024 Olympic Games held in Paris, swimming competitions will start from 27th July to 4th August. Every day at 5 a.m. ET, trial races are expected to start, while Live medal races will start at 2:30 p.m. ET. According to the Paris Olympics swimming schedule, the last swimming competition will start at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 4.

Paris Olympic Swimming Venue
For Paris Olympics swimming seine river is the main location. Paris created a storage tank that can hold 46,000 cubic meters of wastewater in order to greatly lower the chance of Seine pollution. Austerlitz basin is used to collect rain water, which is 98 feet deep. This storage basin is the size of twelve Olympic swimming pools.
Water from this storage tank flows to a treatment plant through a tunnel. From there, it travels via a tunnel to a treatment plant. The water will be dumped into the Seine after it satisfies the necessary health standards.
The opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics will take place on the Seine, with a boat parade. The swimming leg of the triathlon and marathon swimming are two of the sports that will take place on the river.
