It is unknown what Woods' future in professional golf holds now that he's absent with another serious injury. Woods is already among the most talented golfers in the game's history. He has achieved 82 on-tour victories and 15 major championships, matching Sam Snead's record. Jack Nicklaus is the only person who has made a record 18 in his career.

However, Woods has suffered from an array of injuries recently. In addition to having various primary back operations, he nearly lost his right leg in a car incident in Southern California in 2021. Woods has substantially lowered his playing schedule as a result of those injuries.

He has repeatedly claimed that his new objective was to win each of the four main championships each season, with possibly one or two more events placed in between. Last season, Woods ended in 60th place at the Masters and lost the cut at three of the four majors. After suffering that season, he dropped out of The Genesis Invitational early.

Tiger Woods Injures Achilles

Woods revealed on social media Tuesday that he ripped his left Achilles while exercising and practicing at home as he prepared for his return to the PGA Tour this season. He had surgery on Tuesday and is currently healing.

Tiger Woods stated that:

"As I started to expand my training and practice at home, I felt a severe ache in my left Achilles, which was recovered as ripped', Woods wrote in part."

"I am returning home now and plan to concentrate on my recovery and rehab. Thank you all for your support."

The period of Woods' absence is not confirmed. This year, he has yet to be present on the PGA Tour. Last month, he was expected to make his season debut at The Genesis Invitational, a tournament he arranges annually, but he dropped out soon after his mother passed away. Woods has taken part in TGL competitions in Florida with his fantastic team.

Woods' PGA Future Uncertain

In fact, since 2020, Woods has only finished three of his prior 13 Tour events. He has either been removed from the other 10 or lost the cut. Woods most likely won't choose to perform on the Tour again this season in the near future. Woods is expected to require at least four to six months recuperating, and playing in the Masters next month is off of the question.

The Genesis Invitational the next season is, therefore, the most likely place for Woods to attempt a comeback, except for his Hero World Challenge, the parent-child PNC Championship, and other unofficial Tour competitions in which he professionally takes part. Woods won't have to perform there because his TGL squad failed to make it to the playoffs.

In the long run, however, it's fair to question how long Woods will keep going to play on the PGA Tour legitimately, even in the restricted role he's been performing for the past several years. Because of his back and leg injuries, he has often claimed that the hardest thing for him is simply getting around the course for four days in a row. That won't be any easier at 49, especially after healing from an Achilles ailment.
